Soltys Sensei started his martial arts training in 1978 at age 5 in Tae Kwon Do under the direct tutelage of Woolf Sensei (4th Dan). 5 years later he attained his Sho-Dan as well as won numerous tournaments as he was one of the top competitors in the North East region. Nevertheless, in 1988 Soltys Sensei felt something was missing so he left Tae Kwon DO all together but contined training vigorously each day. Soltys Sensei also trained in Judo, JIu-Jitsu, Kempo, and Kali.
Soltys Sensei still studies in Kempo under Shihan James Speights (5th Dan) who is a direct student of the founder of his Kempo System as well as attended classes with Kempo greats such as Ed Parker Jr., William Chun Jr., and Thomas B. Mitose.
Soltys Sensei decided to start over his Shotokan style to its original roots. He also started to become deply influenced by some of the best Karate practitioners through their writings and accomplishments such as the founder of Shotokan, Gichin Funakoshi and Mataoshi Nakayama.
The underlying principle of SOltys Sensei is to "seek perfection of character through the perfetion of technique". SOltys Sensei is known among his peers for being meticulous bout technique and form.
Today, Soltys Sensei continues to be a registered blackbelt, and anyone that is interested in learning proper karate is welcome to join the class or attend a clinic.
